“EU for ALL” Youth Exchange
22 - 30 November 2024
Potsdam, Gwrmany
In recent years, increasing youth participation in politics has become a global priority. While city councils, political platforms, and media efforts have aimed to involve young people, a crucial first step is educating them about the European Union (EU) and its decision-making structures. By better understanding how the EU operates, young people are more likely to engage as active citizens and contribute to building a united European society.
One such initiative was our Erasmus+ youth exchange program, EU for ALL, that used an EU simulation to teach participants about the roles of the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Council of the EU. The simulation focused on three major issues in Europe: migration, climate change, and health—topics that dominate European political discussions.
The project brought together over 40 young participants from 8 (🇧🇪🇩🇪🇫🇷🇮🇹🇳🇱🇷🇴🇪🇸🇰🇬different countries, aged 18-30, for an immersive experience where they took on roles within the EU institutions. By participating in mock debates, drafting resolutions, and negotiating policy proposals, the participants gained a deeper understanding of EU decision-making processes and developed key skills for active political engagement.
The project was a great success, fostering a generation of informed, engaged, and empowered young Europeans. By exploring important issues like migration, climate change, and health, the participants were better equipped to become active citizens, advocate for policies, and contribute to shaping Europe’s future.
